Pitti Imagine Uomo is the world renowned bi-annual, Florence based Menswear trade fair. Attended by leading producers of men’s garments and accessories from across the world, January 2006 saw the 69th consecutive “Pitti Imagine Uomo”. For each fair, Pitti Imagine invites a fashion designer to express his or her creativity in as free a manner as possible by offering a ‘Carte Blanche’ to devise an event or exhibition over the duration of the fair.

Maison Martin Margiela was the guest designer on this occasion and was honoured to be in a position to accept Pitti’s kind invitation.

Since spring-summer 1999, Maison Martin Margiela has been designing garments for men. Over the past few years the Maison has been in constant evolution, refining its creative expression and proffering an ever greater range of garments, shoes and accessories for men. To celebrate Maison Martin Margiela’s invitation and participation at the event, twenty men made a sartorial statement, arriving in signature pieces from the Maison’s entire Menswear collection, which were specially reproduced in various shades of white for the occasion.

The spirit of Maison Martin Margiela was brought to Pitti through a series of stands, shops, and facilities, all erected in different shades of white and very typical of the Maison.
